When they were first launched, desktop treadmills were seen very much as style over substance. Generally, the desktop itself was flimsy and unstable, and were useful for not much other than holding a towel and bottle of water. However, that has changed in recent times, and today’s desktop treadmills have come a long way. Enter the Lifespan TR800-DT5 Desktop Treadmill. Boasting a fully adjustable 1 inch thick desktop that has a range of 16 inches, the TR800 is not limited to those of a certain height. Capable of speeds up to 4 mph, the TR800 is perfect for those looking to get a workout in while they browse emails or take conference calls during work hours. This is the ultimate enabling treadmill.

Is the LifeSpan TR800-DT5 Desktop Treadmill Worth Buying?

The LifeSpan TR800 is a heavy duty treadmill, make no mistake. The treadmill and desktop weigh in at a combined weight of over 200 pounds, and while assembly is not difficult, it is made much easier with an extra set of hands. Similarly, adjusting the height of the desktop is immeasurably easier with two people. That should not be considered a negative aspect; the heavy duty desktop allows for greater stability and strength, and users feel reassured that the desktop is not going to give way under pressure.

While the TR800 allows for fantastic multi-tasking, it is a stretch to think that users will be able to type away at normal speeds when walking on the treadmill. Walking and typing at the same time is very much an acquired skill, and something that many people will simply never master. However, that should not put you off, as browsing emails, reading reports or making and taking phone calls are all easily done. The motor is excellent, and remains impressively quiet even after extensive continuous usage.

Those looking for a high intensity treadmill should not consider the LifeSpan TR800. The TR800 has been designed for multi-tasking, not for intensive training sessions. It is sturdy and reliable, but with a max speed of 4mph and no incline options, it lacks the advanced features that some enthusiasts would look for. That being said, it would be unfair to call this a failing of the TR800. It isn’t aimed at gym bunnies. It’s aimed at those looking to exercise while they work, and for that, it is one of the absolute best desktop treadmills on the market today.
