The Fitbit Flex 2 is an affordable activity tracker at the entry-level end of Fitbit’s product lineup. It is an upgrade from the original Fitbit Flex and was released along with the new Charge 2.
This fitness band does the basics of activity and step tracking but it also has a few new additions that make it more appealing. Here is a quick Fitbit Flex 2 review to help you learn more about this fitness tool and decide whether it is worth buying.
Features of the Fitbit Flex 2 Activity Tracker
When buying the Fitbit Flex 2, you can choose from a range of colors thanks to the removable elastomer bands that come with this unit. It is also possible attach other accessories on the tracker other than different colored bands.
For instance, a pendant accessory will let you wear the Fitbit Flex 2 around your neck whereas attaching the tracker to a polished bangle turns it into a fashion accessory.
Depending on how you wear your Fitbit Flex 2, it can monitor steps, calories, distance traveled, swimming stats and sleep quality. The tracker also sends buzzing alerts throughout the day that motivate you to keep moving. More features to expect from the Fitbit Flex 2 include:
- Waterproof design: A new addition to the Fitbit Flex 2, the waterproof body on this unit makes it ideal for tracking swimming stats. Swim tracking is disabled by default, but once configured, you will be able to count laps and log activity data for up to four different swimming strokes.
- Relays smart phone notifications: Although the Fitbit Flex does not relay calendar notifications, it will show both incoming calls and text messages from your Android or iOS smart phone. The tracker vibrates and lights up LEDs on the front panel to notify you when there is an incoming call or text message. Beyond basic SMS forwarding, the Fitbit Flex 2 also relays messages from WhatsApp and Facebook messenger.
- SmartTrack technology: As with all Fitbit activity trackers, the Flex 2 automatically tracks activities such as running and walking without having to tap through various settings on the display.
